UPDATE ON THE QUEEN OF HEARTS:
She has been through several changes since the last post. She still needs new panniers. But I have put her away for a bit. Even with the changes, she is difficult to wear. But what else should I expect from a villain?
Getting in and out this bodice was nightmare fuel. So I needed something new. I made a new stomacher in a heart shape and some of the roses I made for the skirt. I thought I would pin it to the stays and all would be well...no. After several tries and failures and a few tantrums, my sister-in-law suggested grommets and lacing. Perfect! I choose a wide ribbon to fill in any gaps and ended out loving the end product.
Onto the collar. This started out with a stand-up collar made of foam and printed cards. It was hard to attach and after a few wears started to break down. I made a simpler one from fabric that would hold up better and be easier to get on. Then, it needed bling!
Here are some before and after photos. Looking back at photos, I wish it stood up more but I did reenforce it all I could. I didn't love it before the bling but I did after. Here is the final version.
